about
Jomike Tejido is an architect- turned painter based in Manila, Philippines.
He started painting on hand-woven mats in 2001 He developed it for six years and studied its properties, care and protection to be a suitable medium for fine art. He had his first solo show, The Tree That Captured the Stars in 2007. He has held 8 solo exhibitions in Manila and Singapore.
He likes painting on mats, locally known as banig for it promotes Philippine culture in an unorthodox medium. Each masterpiece embodies something positive, environmental or inventive that serves as a conversational piece of how an architect can see a sense of balance and express it in color and form.
